Summer Dance Camp 2010

In many parts of the world, learning to dance is a required rite to passage to adulthood.  As a young adult, you now have the opportunity to learn a skill that you can use for the rest of your life.  Don't feel awkward at the next social dance event.  Call to sign up for our Summer Dance Camp today.

Here's the printable brochure for summer camp.

Scope

In our summer program for middle school and high school students we will be teaching Smooth Dances (Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango), Rhythm Dances (Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing), and Social Dances (Salsa, Meregue, Slow Dance).  We will devote a day to each dance.  On the last day of each week, we will have you apply what you have learned by doing a short presentation.

Why Ballroom?

Modern Ballroom Dancing started more than 100 years ago, and with Dancing With the Stars going into its 10th season, Ballroom dancing is here to stay and will continue to gain popularity.

Benefits

Health benefits and improved motor skills are the first things most people associate with dancing.  Do you know that learning how to dance, translating music to movement, or reacting to your partner's movements can also develop the creative and cognitive functions of the brain?  Finally, ballroom dancing reduces stress, improves poise and builds self-esteem.
